Veneers in JB: Costs, Types, and Choosing the Right Clinic

Published 14 April 2026 by Enzo

Veneers are a popular cosmetic dental treatment for correcting chipped, stained, or slightly misaligned front teeth. In Johor Bahru, composite veneers start from MYR 300 per tooth (approximately SGD 90) and porcelain veneers from MYR 900 per tooth (SGD 270). In Singapore, porcelain veneers range from SGD 800 to 2,000 per tooth.

For a set of eight front-tooth porcelain veneers, the JB savings can exceed SGD 4,000 compared to Singapore pricing.

Types of Veneers Available in JB

  • Composite veneers: MYR 300 to 500 per tooth (SGD 90 to 150). Applied directly in one visit. The dentist sculpts tooth-coloured resin onto the tooth surface. Good for minor corrections. Lifespan: 5 to 7 years.
  • Porcelain (ceramic) veneers: MYR 900 to 1,400 per tooth (SGD 270 to 420). Custom-fabricated in a dental lab. Requires two visits. Superior aesthetics and stain resistance. Lifespan: 10 to 15 years.
  • E.max veneers: MYR 1,200 to 1,600 per tooth (SGD 360 to 485). A type of lithium disilicate ceramic with excellent translucency and strength. Premium option for the most natural-looking result.

The Veneer Process

For composite veneers (single visit):

  • Consultation and shade selection
  • Minimal tooth preparation (light etching)
  • Resin application and sculpting
  • Curing with UV light
  • Polishing and final adjustments
  • Total time: 30 to 60 minutes per tooth

For porcelain veneers (two visits):

  • Visit 1: Tooth preparation (a thin layer of enamel is removed), impressions taken, temporary veneers placed
  • Lab fabrication: one to two weeks
  • Visit 2: Temporary veneers removed, porcelain veneers bonded permanently

Choosing Between Composite and Porcelain

The choice depends on your budget, timeline, and expectations:

  • Choose composite if: you want a single-visit solution, the corrections are minor, or you want to try veneers before committing to porcelain
  • Choose porcelain if: you want the longest-lasting result, the most natural appearance, or you need significant colour correction

Important Considerations

  • Porcelain veneers are irreversible. Once enamel is removed for preparation, you will always need veneers or crowns on those teeth.
  • Composite veneers are reversible and can be removed or replaced without permanent tooth damage.
  • For porcelain veneers, plan two JB trips spaced one to two weeks apart. Some clinics offer same-day CAD/CAM veneers (CEREC) that eliminate the second visit, though availability in JB is limited.
  • Ask to see before-and-after photos of veneer work done by the clinic. This is the best indicator of aesthetic quality.
